My Hijab My Choice Stamp by spring-sky My Hijab My Choice Stamp by spring-sky
:iconblueheartsplz: I was in the sitting room today working on a request on my laptop when I saw in TV a documentary movie on a German channel talking about Hijab in Islam .

Needless to say ,the whole show was dedicated to show Hijab as a negative and a suppressive act of ignorance .

There was one researcher whom said ,as I remember :Woman in western world are not forced to hijab because there are no law that forces them to wear it ..So they wear it by their own will ,and I can't understand why they are doing so!!

Yet they are being forced on wearing it by their subconscious from family traditions and the attitude of their fathers and brothers .

That just made me mad …I mean ,seriously ,What do we have to do to convince such people that we are wearing it by our own will ?!!!

If we were in Arabic or Islamic countries ,you would say that the community forces us ..and if we were in America or Europe or other countries ,you would say that it is our subconscious .:shifty:

It's funny what they say that covering a woman's body is a sign of male-domination .Well ,let me ask you this : What do men usually love to see :a covered woman ,or a woman whom exposing her body ?

Which one of these manifestations will suits men the best ?? That is the "male-domination" ,my friend !

My body is God's gift to me ,and I chose to cover it . I don't want to be an eye-treat to men . Why is that so difficult to understand ?!

So ,I just quit what I was doing and made this stamp from one of *Nayzak's awesome deviations .I got his permission before so I know he wouldn't mind .

I hope that it helps to apply some light on a Muslim Woman Point of View .

See you all later .I got to go back to work on that request .

This makes me so happy. Nothing makes me angrier than hearing people talk about how we're all "brainwashed" into believing we have to wear the hijab. Wearing a hijab is not oppressive for me, it's liberating! I don't have to worry about how my hair looks when I go outside, I don't have to feel self-conscious of my body, I don't have to worry about my clothes looking more fashionable or prettier than other people's as I just throw on a jacket and skirt over what I'm already wearing.
I wear the hijab fully conscious of what it symbolizes and what it means, and I understand exactly why God wants me to wear it, and I agree - it's not about culture or my parents forcing me to wear it or even 'just because'.

I can't speak for Muslim girls living in the US, since I live in a Muslim country - when I put on my hijab, everyone at school congratulated me.

I'm not a muslim (nor part of any other religion, I believe in science)But if somebody wants to wear a Hijab they can. As long as it's their choice I'm okay with women wearing Hijabs.

Science and religion are not two mutually exclusive things though. So I don't know what you mean by saying "I believe in science", as if people of faith don't believe in it.

And then they have the audacity to claim that they're just trying to "liberate" us. From what? Our right to dress how we choose? Taking away rights is not liberation.

Wow, it's awesome!
I'm not a Muslim but Christian and I'm pretty okay with woman wearing Hijabs or a Burka (?), as long as they do it because THEY want to wear it.
I really like what you meant with saying "My body is God's gift to me ,and I chose to cover it"
I mean, why not? Better than all these young girls with hotpants and cropped tops.
Your explanation of the reasons why women cover their bodies was really understandable, thank you for that!^^

I would never wear one myself, but no one should stop another person from wearing it. It is their body, they have a choice on what they want to wear and do, no one should be able to take that away.

I support Muslim women's right to wear the hijab. If a Muslim woman wants to wear a hijab, she should be allowed to. Trying to ban the hijab is an attack on people's beliefs. We should learn to respect each other's religions.

Well, it's good you do have the choice.
But.. I'm really not feeling like I'm dominated by men, when I dress a bit more revealingly. Nobody's forcing me :o I do so in the summer, when it's hot, and when I'm going out at the club with my friends. Because I want to. And it's cool :meow:

I know what you mean . But I also know girls who were being annoyed just because they like to cover their body or don't like to wear bikini .

Thank you for sharing your opinion

I do, but when it comes to sterile rooms, it's not a question of choice anymore.

I just remembered a story about one girl who was suspended from medical university because she refused to take off her hijab indoors, in labs where a tidiness was important. Everybody covered their heads with special medical hats, and covered their clothing in gowns, but that girl refused to take off her hijab in which she was outdoors (!). And hijab is not something that can easily be covered by a small hat.

When she was suspended, everybody were screaming about choices and freedom too, even if this was not the case... she could just take second special clean hijab, after all.

I see .

And I agree . I'd wear that hat on top of my hijab ,just as if it was my hair ,if I was in her place .

Though, I think, if a hijab is clean and haven't been worn outdoors, it doesn't need to be covered by hat.

Hmmmm. You've obviously been raised to beleive that those of Islamic faith are in the wrong. Considering you speak in broken english, you're not very educated in other matters as well. The hijab is a way of being modest about your appearance, and has absoulutely no relation to terrorism of any kind. Please keep statements like these to yourself, as it will only bring you hate.

I agree. :D
I'm Muslim, too. Unlike my older sisters who attended regular schools, I attended Islamic school, and my lifestyle changes drastically as well.
I started to pay more attention to my appearance and my clothing. I stopped wearing shorts, tank tops, and mini skirts, unless I wore it with leggings or inner layer with long sleeves. And I started to wear hijab.
However, my older sisters always disagree when I wear hijab. They're like, "Why did you wear hijab? Don't worry, there won't be any of your friends watching you here!"
If they said so, I just smiled and replied, "Probably there will be none of my friends watching, but Allah is always watching us, sister."
Wearing hijab is my choice, and being a Muslim is also our choice, right? When there's someone insulting me, I just think positive... Allah is always watching us.
Thank you for making this stamp, my sister!

:omfg:

gallery

deviants
:iconnayzak:

journal

:iconmuslim-manga:

I agree. :3 I'm free to wear what I want, I don't go around judging girls who show their bodies by wearing short shorts and tank tops, do I? I  my hijab! I bought a new one online and I can't wait to receive it. =D I wasn't born into a Muslim family or country, but I'm converting my religion...I started to wear one, and I like them. I don't understand why people hate them so much, I mean, so what?

This shall go into my stamp collection! My first stamp actually!
