Book title :  The Old Man and The Sea

Author : Ernest Hemingway

Number of pages :112 pages .

The Story of this book is about an old man who had gone fishing .period .

It might seems boring ,and it partially is . So if you are not an avid reader or if you are the kind of person who get bored easily ,I won't recommend this book to you .

The beginning is boring and the events are too slow and the dialogues are too long and kind of pointless .But if you were patient enough and survived the first few chapters you'll be rewarded when the story starts to have some action near the middle of the book .

However ,It's not the kind of action that you'll find in adventure books ,but at least there will be something interesting other than the monologues of the old man talking to himself  in the sea .

The noticeable thing in this book is that the author rarely calls his characters with their names ,so you tend to forget that the old man's name is "Santiago " and his apprentice's name is "Manolin" . They were referred to as "The old man" and "The boy" in about 99,5% of the book .

Though there is something positive about this book . You'll find a great example of determination and positivity even in the darkest situations . The old man is so optimistic no matter what he had to suffer .

The conclusion : It's not easy to give a certain specification of this book , It can be a good –or even great – book to some readers ,or a boring one to others . It all depends on your taste of books .

To me personally ,It was a good book since I like classical books . But I won't read it again . :aww:

Here's an Arabic version of the book ,and here's an English version . If you wanted more info. About the book ,here's the wikipedia page .

"No good book has ever been written that has in it symbols arrived at beforehand and stuck in. ... I tried to make a real old man, a real boy, a real sea and a real fish and real sharks. But if I made them good and true enough they would mean many things."
Ernest Hemingway in 1954
